Before you begin reading this post, I just want to make clear that this is a product of near end-sem empty mindedness!
So, recently there is all news about this new show starting up on Star Plus called "Satyamev Jayate". Not much idea about the show though but the theme song and its video is reaching viral fame. The song is awesome and the video too. The diversity shown in the video makes me feel like planning an all India trip!
Though the video has a lot about this country but still I did not find a single thing in there to relate to. No semi-urban people, no metros being shown. So the India lives in the villages is what being portrayed. Or probably "Satyamev Jayate" (only the truth wins) survives only in the villages. True that it depicts the large and diverse India but why to miss on most of (in fact all) the large cities. Not just the on places that have been shown, its also on the class of the people. I don't understand why only target the working class for the feel of the country. Another example of taking poverty synonymous to the Real India? Not just the upper class, even the middle classes have been forbidden from the video. Probably "truth being the winner" is something too much to strive for, for these middle class urban metro population.
I have no intent to criticize all that is there in this video. In fact, its one song (and video) which gives me the awesome max feel of being an Indian. Reminds me of that craziness of childhood when we would sing patriotic songs during those national events drawing closer, with the very feel and the determinism to be the next Kargil shaheed.
